Episode 1 - “What’s Up”

September 28th, 2008

Introducing Couldn’t Care Les: Les doesn’t care about politics, economics, or the environment, but that just makes him a normal teenager.  Between school, part time jobs, and high school social intrigue, he doesn’t give much thought to things like globalization and market forces.  But that doesn’t mean the same forces at play in geopolitics and the global economy aren’t present in his life.  “Couldn’t Care Les” is a new animated series that explores complicated issues through humorous stories and characters that teenagers can relate to.

In this first episode, Les is working a part time job at a gas station when a customer hassles him about the high price of gas.  Without a care in the world, Les discounts the gas, which sets in motion a roller coaster ride of supply and demand.  The story demonstrates how market prices are determined by competition.

The episode is divided into three parts and can be launched online here by clicking on the following panel.  It should automatically advance through all three scenes, though there will be links to the next scene you can use if it does not work….
